Brownies
1 cup sugar
½ cup margarine or butter, softened
1 tablespoon vanilla
3 eggs
1 (16-oz.) can chocolate-flavored syrap
1 ¼ cups Pillsbury’s Best All Purpose or Unbleached Flour
½ cup finely chopped pecans
Frosting
¼ cup margarine or butter
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla
2 to 3 tablespoons milk
½ cup finely chopped pecans
Heat oven to 350º F. Grease 13x9-inch pan. In large bowl, beat sugar and ½ cup margarine until light and fluffy. Add 1 tablespoon vanilla, eggs and chocolate syrup; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour; mix well. Stir in ½ cup chopped pecans. Spread in greased pan.
Bake at 350º F for 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.
Melt ¼ cup margarine in medium saucepan over medium heat. Blend in cocoa; heat until mixture just comes to a boil, stirring constantly. Cool slightly. Stir in powdered sugar, ½ teaspoon vanilla and enough milk for desired spreading consistency; blend until smooth. Stir in ½ cup chopped pecans. Spread carefully over cooled brownies. Cool completely; cut into bars. 36 bars.
