Brownies
½ cup sugar
1/3 cup margarine or butter
2 tablespoons water
1 (6-oz.) package (1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
¾ cup Pillsbury’s Best All Purpose or Unbleached Flour
¼ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
3 to 4 tablespoons bourbon
Frosting
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
3 tablespoons margarine or butter, softened
¼ teaspoon vanilla
2 to 3 teaspoons milk
1 oz. (1 square) semi-sweet chocolate, melted, cooled
Heat oven to 350º F. Grease 8 or 9-inch square pan. In medium saucepan, combine sugar, 1/3 cup margarine, and water. Cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Add eggs; beat well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour, baking powder, and salt; mix well. Stir in walnuts. Spread evenly in greased pan.
Bake at 350º F for 20 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Do not overbake. Drizzle bourbon evenly over top. Cool completely.
In small bowl, combine powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons margarine, ¼ teaspoon vanilla and enough milk for desired frosting consistency; beat until smooht. Frost cooled brownies; drizzle melted chocolate over frosting. Let stand until set; cut into bars. 24 bars.
